This is some brief information about myself. I am a fellow with many hobbies
(my wife, Dorothy, says I have a lot!). I am an active amateur radio operator and hold amateur advanced class license; KC1SG. I
am into building and flying RC
model
planes, and have been
involved in model aviation, on and off, for the past 63 years. I am a past
president and former newsletter editor of my local model
airplane club, the Southern New Hampshire Flying Eagles. Presently I
serve as a Contest Director with my local club, and I am the AMA District 1 Frequency
Coordinator. In the Summer I turn into an avid fisherman. Sometimes I dabble in
watercolors, and have painted several
landscapes. I love cars, and drive a
wonderful full-size Cadillac Deville. I also have
a pair of vintage Nikon 35 mm cameras as well as a digital Nikon D-40 SLR and tie all
of my hobbies together with photographs (and video tape). In the summer, you can
find me snapping pictures at some of the local air shows.
Another hobby that occupies my time is
family genealogy. As this Website grows, I plan to add
some links to files in my collection of CHAPPELL
Family Data. I also have a good-sized database of New England (Connecticut ca.
1634) CHAPPELL and CHAPEL family information. Send me some e-mail and I will be
glad to share any data I have. On July 8th, 2000, we had a family reunion at the Chappell Farm in Cayuga, NY. We are
planning a similar event for July 16th and 17th of 2011.
A few years ago
Dorothy and I started thinking
about our retirement years. One topic that came up was traveling via RV. In
fact, we have even thought about full-time "RV-ing". In August of 1995 we
bought a pre-owned class A motor home. In the process of upgrading and
repairing our coach we found a number of RV links
and manufacturers and seem to be learning daily about this hobby.
I have added a special page for information regarding my old high school gang from USCS, Union Springs, NY Central School, class of 1956.
Dorothy and I are also very active in our
local church, The Household of Faith. "Household" started as a small
Bible study group that met in our living room and has grown to over 250
members as well as "planting" several new churches in Southern NH.
This year Dorothy has seen an increase in her music
ministry and has ministered at concerts on Long Island, Florida, and in NH as well as the
places we travel to in our RV. We have
recently added a page for her activities.
